2026 - 2027 REGISTRATIONS AND PRE-ENROLMENT

New Student Registrations
John Barnett is a closed boundary school.  If your child is a resident student and is new to Edmonton Public Schools, please submit an online registration.  Visit the Division website to learn more on how to register for school.

Current Division Students Must Pre-enrol
If your child is currently attending an Edmonton Public School, parents will need to pre-enrol their child on SchoolZone to tell us the school you’d like your child to attend next year. Find important dates and deadlines and learn more about pre-enrolment by clicking here.  Pre-enrolment runs from 8 am Monday, February 2, 2026 through to 4 pm Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

Once again, John Barnett is a closed boundary school. As outlined in Division regulations, the only new students accepted to our school during pre-enrolment are:

  1. Resident students who live within the attendance area.
  2. Siblings of current students who will be returning to the school the following year.

If the student you are registering or pre-enrolling meets one of these criteria for the 2026-2027 school year, please register them online (new students) or pre-enrol through SchoolZone (existing students).

Following the close of pre-enrolment at 4 pm on March 25, 2026, the school will only accept resident students who have newly moved into the attendance area or resident students eligible for Kindergarten (students born in 2021).

If you have questions about registering for school, please contact the school office at 780-478-1351.

2025 - 2026 REGISTRATIONS

For the 2025 - 2026 school year, John Barnet School is full in planned classes from Kindergarten to Grade 6 in the regular program. A Kindergarten student who is a resident and lives in the school's attendance area may still register. We will only accept resident students in Grades 1 to 6 whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have newly moved into the school’s attendance area for the regular program. A resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic. Non-resident students can enrol in another Division school with space in planned classes.

If you are registering for Kindergarten or are new to Edmonton Public Schools, you must register online.
